When to Replace Kiln Parts and Components

Running a kiln component to failure almost always costs more than replacing it on a schedule. Knowing when to act is the difference between planned maintenance and emergency repair.

Fans, Bearings, And Motors

Watch vibration trends, motor amp draw, and bearing temperature. When any of the three drift outside baseline, replace before failure. Catastrophic fan failures often damage motors, ducting, and surrounding structure — far beyond the cost of the original part.

Walk Doors And Seals

Gaskets degrade in heat and humidity. Once you can see daylight, smell steam, or feel airflow at a door, you're paying for that leak in fuel every cycle. Reseal or replace.

Sensors And Controls

Moisture probes and RTDs drift with age. Calibrate annually and replace at the first sign of erratic readings — your schedules are only as good as the sensors feeding them.

Heating Coils

Coil corrosion, scaling, and tube leaks all hurt energy efficiency before they cause hard failures. Annual inspection catches issues while replacement is still a planned event.
